MIT Farm is a community-driven initiative connecting the MIT community with local agriculture through growing, learning, sharing, and design.
We believe that caring about what we eat — and about the people, places, and systems that make our food possible — is a collective responsibility. We bring students, faculty, staff, and local farmers together through hands-on farming, fresh food access, and projects that create new ways to grow and gather both on and off campus.

What We Do
Volunteering
We organize regular volunteer sessions with local farms, including Hannan Healthy Foods, Eastie Farm, and the Boston Medical Center rooftop farm. Together, we learn what it takes to grow food while building relationships with the farmers and communities who make our regional food system possible.

In collaboration with the MIT Office of Sustainability (MITOS) and MIT Anthropology, we make locally grown food more accessible to the MIT community. Our Fresh Food Bag program connects students directly with affordable, organic produce grown by our regional farm partners.
Design Projects
We use design to create spaces and tools for growing, gathering, and learning. From the Farm Cart to projects supporting our partner farms, we explore how architecture and design can help build a more connected and participatory food system.
